SH2B adaptor protein, also known as SH2B1, is a member of the SH2-domain-containing signaling proteins that play critical roles in intracellular signal transduction. SH2B1 is involved in a variety of cellular processes, including growth, metabolism, and neural function, by linking receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) to downstream signaling pathways. This protein is ubiquitously expressed in many tissues, with particularly high levels in the brain, liver, and adipose tissue. SH2B1 is integral to the signaling pathways of several key hormones and growth factors, such as insulin, leptin, and nerve growth factor (NGF).
