Nucleotide Binding Oligomerization Domain (NOD)-containing proteins are a class of intracellular pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that play a critical role in the innate immune system. These proteins are responsible for detecting intracellular pathogens and danger signals, subsequently initiating inflammatory responses.
