Descripción
TFAP2E is a member of the AP-2 family that regulates gene transcription during embryogenesis, tissue differentiation, and organ development. TFAP2E is expressed in various epithelial and neural tissues during development, where it controls cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation by modulating target genes involved in cell adhesion, apoptosis, and morphogenesis. It has also been implicated in the regulation of neural crest migration, contributing to craniofacial and limb development. In cancer biology, altered TFAP2E expression is associated with tumor progression, particularly in colorectal and gastric cancers, where it regulates Wnt/β-catenin signaling and chemoresistance. Knockout studies reveal developmental abnormalities in neural and epithelial tissues, underscoring its role in transcriptional regulation, tissue-specific gene expression, and developmental homeostasis.

TFAP2E antibody
Sequence-specific DNA-binding protein that interacts with inducible viral and cellular enhancer elements to regulate transcription of selected genes. AP-2 factors bind to the consensus sequence 5'-GCCNNNGGC-3' and activate genes involved in a large spectrum of important biological functions including proper eye, face, body wall, limb and neural tube development. They also suppress a number of genes including MCAM/MUC18, C/EBP alpha and MYC. AP-2-epsilon may play a role in the development of the CNS and in cartilage differentiation(By similarity).
