Descripción
CARMIL1 is a scaffolding protein that regulates actin dynamics by interacting with capping proteins, the Arp2/3 complex, and myosin-I. It plays a critical role in actin filament assembly and disassembly, essential for cell migration, adhesion, and membrane trafficking. CARMIL1 is required for proper lamellipodia and filopodia formation, contributing to cell shape and motility. Dysregulation of CARMIL1 has been linked to cancer metastasis and immune dysfunction, where altered actin remodeling affects cell invasion and signaling. It also participates in signaling pathways related to integrins and cytoskeletal reorganization, making it a target for therapeutic research in metastatic cancer and immune disorders.
