Descripción

WASP family member 2 (WASF2), also known as WAVE2, is another member of the WASP family of proteins that regulates actin dynamics and cellular movement WASF2 is part of a multi-protein complex that activates the Arp2/3 complex to promote actin filament branching, a critical process for cellular motility, migration, and invasion WASF2 is highly expressed in cells that require dynamic cytoskeletal changes, such as in immune cells, neurons, and cancer cells In immune cells, WASF2 is involved in processes like T-cell activation and phagocytosis, while in cancer cells, it regulates cell invasion and metastasis through changes in actin remodeling Dysregulation of WASF2 is associated with diseases such as immune disorders, cancer metastasis, and neurodevelopmental disorders, where aberrant actin dynamics lead to impaired immune function or abnormal cell movement

Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome Protein Family Member 2 (WASF2) Antibody

This gene encodes a member of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family. The gene product is a protein that forms a multiprotein complex that links receptor kinases and actin. Binding to actin occurs through a C-terminal verprolin homology domain in all family members. The multiprotein complex serves to tranduce signals that involve changes in cell shape, motility or function. The published map location (PMID:10381382) has been changed based on recent genomic sequence comparisons, which indicate that the expressed gene is located on chromosome 1, and a pseudogene may be located on chromosome X.
