Descripción

VEGFD is a member of the vascular endothelial growth factor family that primarily promotes lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis by binding to VEGF receptors VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 on endothelial cells VEGFD plays a key role in the development of lymphatic vessels during embryogenesis and in tissue repair by stimulating endothelial cell proliferation and migration It is also involved in cancer progression where VEGFD expression enhances tumor angiogenesis, lymphatic metastasis, and the spread of cancer cells Elevated levels of VEGFD have been observed in cancers such as breast cancer, melanoma, and lung cancer where it promotes the formation of new lymphatic vessels for tumor dissemination Its role in vascular biology makes VEGFD a target for therapies designed to inhibit lymphangiogenesis and reduce tumor metastasis
