RAB34, member RAS oncogene family (RAB34) is involved in regulating intracellular vesicular trafficking, particularly in the movement of vesicles between the endosomes and other cellular compartments It plays a crucial role in the endocytic and exocytic pathways by mediating the transport of cargo proteins to the plasma membrane or to lysosomes for degradation RAB34 has been implicated in autophagy, a vital process for maintaining cellular homeostasis by degrading and recycling damaged cellular components Additionally, RAB34 is involved in controlling the dynamics of the Golgi apparatus and the vesicular trafficking from this organelle, ensuring proper protein sorting and trafficking RAB34 also has roles in regulating the immune response and cellular signaling through its effects on vesicular fusion and the recycling of signaling receptors Dysregulation of RAB34 has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and immune-related disorders where altered vesicular trafficking and membrane dynamics contribute to pathological changes in cellular function and tissue homeostasis
