ANXA8L1 is a member of the annexin family closely related to Annexin A8, sharing structural and functional similarities as a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein. ANXA8L1 is involved in membrane dynamics, such as vesicle trafficking, endocytosis, and exocytosis, and regulates cell membrane integrity under stress conditions. It has been implicated in tumorigenesis, particularly in cancers such as breast cancer and leukemia, where its expression promotes cell survival, metastasis, and drug resistance. ANXA8L1 may also play roles in angiogenesis, influencing endothelial cell behavior and blood vessel formation. Dysregulation of ANXA8L1 contributes to abnormal signaling pathways, highlighting its importance in cancer progression and as a potential biomarker for therapeutic targeting.
