Descripción
MRGPRX1 is a member of the MAS-related G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, which is involved in various sensory and immune functions. It is primarily expressed in sensory neurons, particularly in the skin and mucosal tissues. MRGPRX1 plays a critical role in mediating itch sensations and allergic responses. It is activated by specific neuropeptides, such as substance P and various mast cell mediators, which lead to the activation of intracellular signaling pathways. Upon activation, MRGPRX1 typically couples to G proteins, initiating the release of calcium ions and the production of other intracellular signals. This process contributes to inflammatory responses and the sensation of itching. Dysregulation of MRGPRX1 has been implicated in conditions such as chronic urticaria (hives) and other allergic skin disorders. As such, MRGPRX1 is a potential target for novel therapies aimed at controlling itch and allergic inflammation.
