Descripción

AGAP3 is a multifunctional protein involved in vesicle trafficking, cytoskeletal organization, and intracellular signaling pathways. Structurally, it contains a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) domain, ankyrin repeats, and a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, which mediate its interactions with small GTPases, particularly Arf proteins, and enable membrane association. AGAP3 plays a role in endosomal transport, receptor recycling, and the regulation of cytoskeletal dynamics, with a particular impact on processes like cell migration and neuronal signaling. It is expressed in various tissues, including the nervous system, where it influences synaptic plasticity and vesicle formation. Dysregulation of AGAP3 has been implicated in cancer progression, as it enhances cell motility and survival, and in neurological disorders where it affects cellular transport and signaling.
