Leucine-rich repeat flightless-interacting protein 1 (LRRFIP1) is a multifunctional protein implicated in various cellular processes, including transcriptional regulation, immune response modulation, and cytoskeletal organization. LRRFIP1 binds to transcription factors and regulates their activity, acting as a co-activator or repressor depending on the cellular context. Its role in innate immunity is highlighted by its interaction with the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway, where it influences the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha. Additionally, LRRFIP1 plays a role in actin cytoskeleton remodeling through its interaction with flightless I, a member of the gelsolin family. Dysregulation of LRRFIP1 expression or function has been associated with various pathological conditions, including cancer and autoimmune diseases. Studies have also identified its involvement in the Wnt signaling pathway, further emphasizing its significance in cellular proliferation and differentiation.
