Background

LINGO3 is a member of the LINGO (Leucine-Rich Repeat and Immunoglobulin-Like Domain) family, primarily expressed in the nervous system. It features leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains, which mediate protein-protein interactions, and immunoglobulin-like (Ig) domains, which contribute to cell signaling. LINGO3 is implicated in neuronal development and axon guidance, where it influences the growth and differentiation of neurons. Emerging research suggests that LINGO3 may also play a role in synaptic organization and maintenance of neuronal integrity. Dysregulation of LINGO3 is associated with neurological disorders, including neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, although its specific mechanisms remain under investigation.
