ANO3, also known as TMEM16C, is a member of the anoctamin family with roles in neuronal signaling and ion channel regulation. ANO3 is expressed in specific regions of the nervous system, including motor neurons and sensory neurons, where it may regulate calcium signaling and ion fluxes critical for neuronal function. Mutations in ANO3 have been linked to dystonia, a neurological movement disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions, abnormal postures, and impaired motor control.
