Background
ANXA13 is considered the most ancestral member of the annexin family, serving as the evolutionary origin for annexin gene expansion. It is primarily expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and has been linked to processes such as membrane trafficking and intracellular signaling. ANXA13 plays a role in epithelial cell polarity and vesicular transport, particularly in the intestine, where it regulates mucosal homeostasis.
