Descripción

Aminoadipate aminotransferase (AADAT), also known as kynurenine aminotransferase II (KAT II), is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the transamination of kynurenine to kynurenic acid (KYNA), a neuroactive metabolite in the kynurenine pathway of tryptophan metabolism. KYNA acts as an antagonist of NMDA and alpha-7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, regulating excitotoxicity and neuroinflammation in the brain. AADAT is expressed in various tissues, with high activity in the brain, where it influences neurotransmission and neuroprotection. Dysregulation of AADAT or kynurenine pathway metabolites has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and schizophrenia, as well as cancer and immune-related disorders.

AADAT antibody

Transaminase with broad substrate specificity. Has transaminase activity towards aminoadipate, kynurenine, methionine and glutamate. Shows activity also towards tryptophan, aspartate and hydroxykynurenine. Accepts a variety of oxo-acids as amino-group acceptors, with a preference for 2-oxoglutarate, 2-oxocaproic acid, phenylpyruvate and alpha-oxo-gamma-methiol butyric acid. Can also use glyoxylate as amino-group acceptor(in vitro).
