Descripción

WASP family member 1 (WASF1) is a member of the WASP family of proteins involved in regulating the actin cytoskeleton in cells WASF1, also known as neural Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome protein, plays a critical role in actin polymerization, which is essential for processes like cell migration, adhesion, and immune response WASF1 activates the Arp2/3 complex, leading to the branching of actin filaments and promoting the formation of cellular protrusions such as lamellipodia and filopodia These structures are vital for cellular movement and tissue development In immune cells, WASF1 is involved in regulating the actin cytoskeleton to enable processes like phagocytosis and the formation of the immune synapse Dysregulation of WASF1 is implicated in various diseases, including immune disorders like Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome and certain cancers, where altered actin dynamics disrupt normal cell function and immune responses
