V-set and immunoglobulin domain containing 2 (VSIG2) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is primarily expressed in epithelial cells across various tissues, particularly in the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts. This protein is involved in cell adhesion and potentially plays roles in epithelial cell organization and barrier formation. It has been suggested to function as a mediator of intercellular communication and contribute to tissue integrity by maintaining cell polarity and suppressing excessive cell migration.
