Background

GPR17 is a G protein-coupled receptor involved in several physiological processes, including the regulation of myelination, neurotransmitter release, and inflammation. GPR17 has been identified as a receptor that is expressed in oligodendrocyte precursor cells and plays a role in myelin formation in the central nervous system. GPR17 is activated by both endogenous ligands, such as uracil nucleotides, and can also respond to purines like adenosine.
