Descripción
Striatin (STRN) is a scaffolding protein and a member of the striatin family, functioning as a critical component of the striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complex. STRN acts as an adaptor protein, facilitating protein-protein interactions and coordinating cellular signaling pathways, including protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) activity and kinase signaling. It is highly expressed in the brain, heart, and endothelial tissues, where it participates in cellular processes such as vesicle trafficking, cytoskeletal organization, and signal transduction. STRN plays a significant role in neurodevelopment, neurotransmission, and endothelial cell function by regulating calcium-calmodulin-dependent pathways. Dysregulation of STRN is linked to neurological disorders, including neurodegenerative diseases, and cancers, where its involvement in PP2A activity affects tumor progression and cellular homeostasis. Knockdown studies reveal disrupted vesicular transport, impaired cell signaling, and defective cytoskeletal organization, underscoring its role in maintaining cell structure, signaling integrity, and physiological processes.
