Descripción

SIRT2 is another NAD+-dependent deacetylase that primarily localizes in the cytoplasm but can translocate to the nucleus under certain conditions to regulate cell cycle progression, metabolism, and oxidative stress SIRT2 deacetylates proteins involved in microtubule dynamics, such as α-tubulin, to maintain cellular morphology and mitotic integrity It also targets transcription factors including FOXO and p53, regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and stress resistance SIRT2 has a dual role in tumorigenesis, acting as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cell proliferation and as a tumor promoter depending on the cellular context SIRT2 plays an essential role in metabolic regulation, particularly during caloric restriction, by modulating gluconeogenesis, insulin sensitivity, and lipid metabolism Dysregulation of SIRT2 has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, where it influences protein aggregation and neuronal survival Pharmacological modulation of SIRT2 is under investigation for its therapeutic potential in cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurodegeneration

SIRT2 antibody

This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class I of the sirtuin family. Several transcript variants are resulted from alternative splicing of this gene.
