Taste Receptor Type 2 Member 106 (TAS2R106) is an integral component of the bitter taste receptor family, which is essential for identifying and responding to potentially harmful or toxic substances. Located primarily in gustatory tissues, TAS2R106 has also been identified in extra-oral regions such as the respiratory tract, where it contributes to innate immunity by facilitating antimicrobial peptide secretion and enhancing mucociliary clearance.
