Observed MW | Molecular Weight: Calculated MW: 29.3 kDa Observed MW (SDS-PAGE): 35 kDa Possible reasons why the actual band size differs from the predicted band size: 1. Splice variants. Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene. 2. Relative charge. The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein. 3. Post-translational modification. Phosphorylation, glycoslyation, methylation etc. may affect the band size. 4. Post-translational cleavage. Many proteins are synthesised as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form. 5. Polymerisation of the target protein. Dimerisation, multimerisation etc. will increase the band size observed. Concentration: Prior to lyophilization: 150 µg/ml Sequence Fragment: Gln188-Leu324 Tag: N-terminal His tag and SUMO tag |

Descripción
TNFSF13B, commonly known as BAFF (B-cell activating factor), is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily and is critical for B cell survival, maturation, and immune function. This ligand is primarily produced by myeloid cells, such as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, but can also be secreted by activated T cells. BAFF plays a pivotal role in maintaining peripheral B cell populations, supporting antibody production, and promoting immune tolerance. It interacts with specific receptors on B cells and related immune cells, including BAFF-R, TACI (Transmembrane Activator and Calcium-Modulating Cyclophilin Ligand Interactor), and BCMA (B Cell Maturation Antigen), to initiate intracellular signaling pathways crucial for B cell homeostasis and function. Dysregulation of BAFF expression or receptor binding is associated with autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
