Rat Aldolase C, Fructose Bisphosphate (ALDOC) Protein is a Recombinant Rat protein expressed in E. coli.
ALDOC is a brain-specific isoform of fructose-bisphosphate aldolase that catalyzes the same glycolytic reaction as ALDOA and ALDOB, converting fructose-1,6-bisphosphate into glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. ALDOC is highly expressed in the central nervous system (CNS), particularly in astrocytes and Purkinje cells of the cerebellum, where it plays a key role in brain energy metabolism and glucose utilization. Altered expression or mutations in ALDOC are linked to neurodegenerative disorders and gliomas, where energy metabolism is disrupted. Additionally, ALDOC is involved in maintaining neuronal function and astrocyte homeostasis under normal and stress conditions. Its critical role in glycolysis makes it essential for supporting brain function and energy demands.
