Descripción

RAB29, member RAS oncogene family (RAB29) is a small GTPase that regulates vesicular transport, particularly in the movement of vesicles between the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane RAB29 is essential for maintaining the intracellular trafficking system and ensures the proper distribution of membrane proteins, which are critical for maintaining cellular signaling, polarity, and adhesion It has been shown to contribute to the regulation of autophagy, aiding in the degradation and recycling of damaged cellular components RAB29’s involvement in autophagy links it to various stress response pathways and plays a role in protecting cells from oxidative damage and metabolic stress Furthermore, RAB29 has been implicated in regulating neuronal function, with defects in its activity associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, where impaired autophagic clearance of misfolded proteins leads to cellular dysfunction In cancer, RAB29’s role in vesicular trafficking can affect tumor progression by altering the movement of key proteins involved in cell growth, migration, and metastasis
