Description

PTH2R Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against PTH2R. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. This protein is a receptor for parathyroid hormone (PTH). This receptor is more selective in ligand recognition and has a more specific tissue distribution compared to parathyroid hormone receptor 1 (PTHR1). It is activated only by PTH and not by parathyroid hormone-like hormone (PTHLH) and is particularly abundant in brain and pancreas. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Descripción

PTH2R is a G protein-coupled receptor activated primarily by tuberoinfundibular peptide of 39 residues (TIP39) and, to a lesser extent, parathyroid hormone (PTH). Unlike PTH1R, PTH2R is not involved in calcium homeostasis but instead regulates neuroendocrine functions, pain signaling, and vasodilation. PTH2R is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, including the hypothalamus and brainstem, as well as in pancreatic and cardiovascular tissues. It couples to Gs proteins, stimulating adenylate cyclase and increasing intracellular cAMP levels. PTH2R modulates neuropeptide release, pain perception, and stress responses. Emerging evidence suggests its involvement in regulating hypothalamic-pituitary functions and modulating blood flow. Dysregulation of PTH2R signaling is linked to altered pain sensitivity, stress-related disorders, and neuroendocrine dysfunction. Targeting PTH2R has therapeutic potential for managing chronic pain, stress disorders, and cardiovascular regulation, highlighting its role in neuropeptide-mediated signaling.

anti- PTH2R antibody

This is a specific receptor for parathyroid hormone. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. PTH2R may be responsible for PTH effects in a number of physiological systems. It may play a significant role in pancreatic function. PTH2R presence in neurons indicates that it may function as a neurotransmitter receptor(By similarity).
