Descripción
Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) is a pivotal signaling protein within the neuregulin family, recognized for its extensive roles in mediating cell-cell communication across various tissues, particularly the nervous system, cardiac muscle, and epithelial structures. This protein functions as a ligand for ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases, thereby regulating processes such as neuronal differentiation, synaptic development, and myelination of nerve fibers. In cardiac tissue, NRG1 is indispensable for heart development and plays a role in maintaining the function and repair of adult cardiac cells.
