Background

Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) is a pivotal signaling protein within the neuregulin family, recognized for its extensive roles in mediating cell-cell communication across various tissues, particularly the nervous system, cardiac muscle, and epithelial structures. This protein functions as a ligand for ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases, thereby regulating processes such as neuronal differentiation, synaptic development, and myelination of nerve fibers.
