Descripción

Myosin Binding Protein H-like (MYBPHL) is a protein closely related to MYBPH but exhibits distinct structural and functional features. MYBPHL also contains immunoglobulin-like (Ig-like) domains, which are critical for binding myosin and organizing the sarcomere structure. However, its expression pattern is more tissue-specific compared to MYBPH. MYBPHL is predominantly found in skeletal muscle and may also have a role in cardiac tissues under certain conditions. MYBPHL is believed to contribute to thick filament stabilization and fine-tuning of muscle contractility, similar to MYBPH, but its specific role in sarcomere dynamics and muscle contraction remains less well-defined. Emerging research indicates that MYBPHL may be involved in muscle development and adaptation to stress or injury, particularly during increased mechanical loading or pathological conditions. MYBPHL is being investigated as a potential marker for certain muscle-related diseases, including myopathies and cardiomyopathies, due to its structural similarities to other sarcomeric proteins.
