Descripción
TAAR7A is a G protein-coupled receptor expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it detects specific volatile amines associated with environmental odors and social chemical cues. Its role is particularly significant in recognizing amines derived from decaying organic matter, which may trigger innate behavioral responses like avoidance or danger recognition. Beyond olfaction, TAAR7A is thought to influence neural signaling via trace amines such as β-phenylethylamine, impacting dopamine and serotonin pathways. While its specific functions are less understood compared to other TAARs, its distinct ligand specificity highlights its role in fine-tuning sensory and possibly neurochemical responses.
