Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
SSTR5 is another G protein-coupled receptor in the somatostatin receptor family, activated by somatostatin. Like other somatostatin receptors, SSTR5 primarily couples to Gi proteins, reducing cAMP levels and inhibiting cell signaling. SSTR5 is expressed in various tissues, particularly in the brain, pancreas, and pituitary gland. In the pancreas, SSTR5 plays a role in regulating insulin and glucagon release, while in the brain, it modulates neurotransmission and hormone release. SSTR5 is also involved in regulating growth hormone secretion and influencing metabolic processes. Dysregulation of SSTR5 has been associated with various endocrine disorders, including pituitary adenomas and pancreatic tumors. Somatostatin analogs targeting SSTR5 are used clinically to treat conditions like acromegaly, neuroendocrine tumors, and other hormone-related disorders by reducing excessive hormone secretion.

Somatostatin Receptor 5 (SSTR5) Antibody
SSTR5 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against SSTR5. Somatostatin and its related peptide cortistatin exert multiple biological actions on normal and tumoral tissue targets by interacting with somatostatin receptors (SSTRs). The protein encoded by this gene is one of the SSTRs, which is a multi-pass membrane protein and belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase, and different regions of this receptor molecule are required for the activation of different signaling pathways. A mutation in this gene results in somatostatin analog resistance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in this gene.
