SEMA3A (Semaphorin 3A) is a member of the class 3 semaphorin family, functioning as a guidance cue in axonal development and neuronal migration. It binds to neuropilin-1 (NRP1) and plexin receptors to mediate repulsive signaling in neural networks, playing a critical role in synapse formation and maintenance. Beyond neural contexts, SEMA3A also influences angiogenesis, immune cell regulation, and cancer progression, with high relevance in tumor microenvironments where it modulates vascular growth and cell invasion. Its therapeutic potential lies in targeting its pathways for diseases involving aberrant cell migration and angiogenesis, including cancer and vascular disorders.
