Note | Validity: The validity for this kit is 6 months. This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
NPY6R is a non-functional neuropeptide Y receptor in humans due to genetic inactivation; however, it remains functional in certain other species. In functional contexts, NPY6R binds neuropeptide Y (NPY) and peptide YY (PYY), acting as a regulator of energy homeostasis, feeding behavior, and metabolic responses. Its signaling is thought to couple to Gi/o proteins, inhibiting adenylate cyclase and reducing cAMP levels, similar to other NPY receptors. While non-functional in humans, NPY6R’s evolutionary remnants suggest a historical role in appetite and energy regulation. Its absence in humans highlights compensatory mechanisms involving other NPY receptors, such as NPY1R, NPY2R, and NPY5R, which maintain neuropeptide-mediated regulation of feeding, energy balance, and stress responses. Understanding NPY6R’s evolutionary divergence provides insights into species-specific differences in neuropeptide signaling and its role in energy regulation.
