Descripción
LRRN3 is another member of the LRR neuronal protein family and is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system. It plays a significant role in neural connectivity and synaptic modulation, contributing to the development of functional neural networks. LRRN3’s expression is tightly regulated during embryonic brain development, particularly in areas associated with sensory processing and motor control. This protein facilitates cell signaling and neural migration through its leucine-rich repeat domains, which promote specific interactions with other synaptic and extracellular proteins. LRRN3 is being studied for its potential involvement in neuropsychiatric conditions such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and schizophrenia, where synaptic and connectivity abnormalities are prevalent. Understanding LRRN3’s function could provide insights into therapeutic targets for these conditions.
