Descripción
ANKRD55 is a protein containing ankyrin repeat domains that mediate protein-protein interactions involved in immune regulation and autoimmune diseases. It has been identified as a susceptibility gene for autoimmune disorders, including multiple sclerosis (MS) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), where its expression influences inflammatory responses and immune signaling pathways. ANKRD55 is believed to regulate the activity of immune cells, such as T cells, and participate in the modulation of pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Its role in maintaining immune balance highlights its importance in preventing aberrant immune activation and inflammation. Dysregulation or genetic variations in ANKRD55 are associated with increased risk for autoimmune diseases, making it a potential target for therapeutic intervention.
