Descripción
Leucine-rich repeat flightless-interacting protein 2 (LRRFIP2) shares structural and functional similarities with LRRFIP1 and participates in several critical cellular processes. LRRFIP2 has been identified as a modulator of innate immune responses, particularly in the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway, where it regulates the activation of inflammasomes and production of IL-1β. It also interacts with flightless I and contributes to cytoskeletal organization, playing a role in cell shape and motility. LRRFIP2's involvement in transcriptional regulation is mediated by its ability to bind DNA and influence gene expression. Emerging evidence suggests that LRRFIP2 may play a role in metabolic pathways and autophagy, although these functions require further investigation. Altered expression or mutations in LRRFIP2 have been linked to inflammatory diseases and metabolic disorders, underscoring its importance in maintaining cellular and systemic homeostasis.
