Description

LIMS1 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against LIMS1. The protein encoded by this gene is an adaptor protein which contains five LIM domains, or double zinc fingers. The protein is likely involved in integrin signaling through its LIM domain-mediated interaction with integrin-linked kinase, found in focal adhesion plaques. It is also thought to act as a bridge linking integrin-linked kinase to NCK adaptor protein 2, which is involved in growth factor receptor kinase signaling pathways. Its localization to the periphery of spreading cells also suggests that this protein may play a role in integrin-mediated cell adhesion or spreading. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Descripción

LIMS1, also known as PINCH1 (Particularly Interesting New Cysteine-Histidine rich protein), is a LIM domain-containing adaptor protein involved in integrin-mediated cell adhesion and signaling. LIMS1 interacts with focal adhesion proteins such as ILK (integrin-linked kinase) and acts as a scaffold to regulate cell-ECM adhesion, cytoskeletal organization, and signaling pathways like PI3K/Akt, MAPK/ERK, and TGF-β. It is broadly expressed in tissues and plays critical roles in cell survival, migration, differentiation, and embryonic development. LIMS1 is essential for cardiac and skeletal muscle development, where it stabilizes focal adhesions and modulates mechanical signaling. Dysregulation of LIMS1 is associated with cancer progression, metastasis, and fibrosis due to its role in integrin signaling and actin cytoskeleton remodeling. Knockout models show embryonic lethality, severe developmental defects, and impaired adhesion, highlighting its importance in tissue homeostasis.
