Leukotriene B4 Receptor 2 (LTB4R2) Antibody

Background

LTB4R2, also known as BLT2, is a low-affinity G protein-coupled receptor for leukotriene B4 (LTB4) but can also bind other bioactive lipids, such as 12-hydroxyheptadecatrienoic acid (12-HHT). LTB4R2 is broadly expressed in various tissues, including immune cells, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells, where it mediates inflammation, immune responses, and tissue homeostasis. Compared to LTB4R1, LTB4R2 is involved in both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signaling, depending on the ligand and cellular context. LTB4R2 activation triggers downstream pathways such as PI3K/Akt and NF-κB, regulating cellular migration, ROS production, and cytokine release. In chronic inflammatory diseases like asthma, IBD, and arthritis, LTB4R2 contributes to tissue damage and immune cell recruitment. Interestingly, LTB4R2 also plays a protective role in epithelial barrier function and oxidative stress responses, highlighting its dual roles. Dysregulation of LTB4R2 signaling has been linked to cancer progression, metabolic disorders, and chronic inflammation. Targeting LTB4R2 represents a promising strategy for controlling inflammation and improving outcomes in inflammatory and oxidative stress-related diseases.
