Descripción
LRRC2 is a protein involved in the regulation of cell signaling and cytoskeletal organization primarily expressed in neural and endothelial cells it has been identified as a modulator of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway which is essential for cellular proliferation differentiation and migration studies indicate LRRC2's involvement in blood-brain barrier integrity as it regulates interactions between endothelial cells and the extracellular matrix contributing to vascular stability and selective permeability LRRC2 has also been implicated in neural development where its role in maintaining axonal guidance and synaptic stability has been suggested through interactions with cytoskeletal proteins mutations in LRRC2 have been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and conditions involving vascular dysfunction emerging research links LRRC2 to angiogenesis and vascular remodeling in pathological contexts such as cancer and stroke further exploration is needed to fully characterize its function and potential therapeutic applications in neurovascular and oncological conditions
