Descripción
LGR6 is another member of the LGR receptor family that functions as a receptor for R-spondins, regulating Wnt signaling. Similar to LGR4 and LGR5, LGR6 is involved in the regulation of stem cell biology, particularly in the hair follicle and skin regeneration. LGR6 plays a role in promoting epithelial differentiation and influencing the development of various tissues during embryogenesis. It is involved in signaling pathways that maintain stem cell populations in tissues such as the skin and the gastrointestinal tract, contributing to tissue homeostasis and repair. LGR6’s expression in hair follicle stem cells suggests a role in hair growth and regeneration. Dysregulation of LGR6 has been linked to skin disorders, and its involvement in Wnt signaling makes it an important player in cancer biology. Targeting LGR6 with therapeutic agents could hold potential in treating diseases related to stem cell dysregulation, including certain types of cancer and skin regeneration disorders.

LGR6 antibody
Receptor for R-spondins that potentiates the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and acts as a marker of multipotent stem cells in the epidermis. Upon binding to R-spondins(RSPO1, RSPO2, RSPO3 or RSPO4), associates with phosphorylated LRP6 and frizzled receptors that are activated by extracellular Wnt receptors, triggering the canonical Wnt signaling pathway to increase expression of target genes. In contrast to classical G-protein coupled receptors, does not activate heterotrimeric G-proteins to transduce the signal. May act as a tumor suppressor.
