Description

IL24 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against IL24. This gene encodes a member of the IL10 family of cytokines. It was identified as a gene induced during terminal differentiation in melanoma cells. The protein encoded by this gene can induce apoptosis selectively in various cancer cells. Overexpression of this gene leads to elevated expression of several GADD family genes, which correlates with the induction of apoptosis. The phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 (MAPK7/P38), and heat shock 27kDa protein 1 (HSPB2/HSP27) are found to be induced by this gene in melanoma cells, but not in normal immortal melanocytes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Descripción

Interleukin 24 (IL24) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-10 family, which includes other related cytokines such as IL-10, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, and IL-26. IL-24 was first identified as melanoma differentiation-associated gene-7 (mda-7), due to its expression being upregulated during the process of melanoma cell differentiation. It plays a key role in immune regulation, cell survival, apoptosis, and the modulation of inflammatory responses. IL-24 is unique in its ability to induce apoptosis selectively in cancer cells without affecting normal cells, making it a promising therapeutic target for cancer treatment. IL-24 is produced by a variety of immune cells, including macrophages, monocytes, and T-cells, and is involved in both immune modulation and inflammation. Its expression can be triggered by pro-inflammatory signals, such as TNF-α and IFN-γ
