Descripción
ROBO2 (Roundabout Guidance Receptor 2) shares structural and functional similarities with ROBO1, playing a complementary role in neural development and guidance. It ensures the proper wiring of axonal tracts and is crucial for midline crossing of axons in the central nervous system. Beyond neural functions, ROBO2 is involved in kidney morphogenesis and epithelial tissue organization. It participates in Slit-dependent signaling pathways, which regulate cellular adhesion and migration. Aberrations in ROBO2 expression or function have been linked to congenital kidney abnormalities and developmental disorders, further underscoring its critical role in maintaining developmental and tissue-specific integrity.
