Descripción
P2RY14 is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by UDP-sugars, such as UDP-glucose and UDP-galactose. P2RY14 primarily couples to Gi/o proteins, inhibiting adenylate cyclase, reducing cAMP levels, and modulating inflammatory and immune responses. P2RY14 is widely expressed in immune cells, including neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes, as well as in the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. It plays a critical role in innate immunity by mediating chemotaxis, cytokine production, and immune cell recruitment during inflammation and infection. In the gastrointestinal system, P2RY14 is involved in mucus production and epithelial repair. Dysregulation of P2RY14 is associated with inflammatory diseases, immune dysfunction, and metabolic disorders. P2RY14 is emerging as a therapeutic target for conditions like asthma, diabetes, and gastrointestinal inflammation, where modulation of UDP-sugar signaling can improve immune regulation and tissue homeostasis.
