CBFA2/RUNX1 partner transcriptional co-repressor 3 (CBFA2T3) is another member of the CBFA2T family, acting as a co-repressor in the context of RUNX1-mediated transcription CBFA2T3 works similarly to CBFA2T2 by interacting with RUNX1 to repress gene expression, thereby playing a vital role in regulating hematopoietic development and function Like its counterpart, CBFA2T3 contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cell development by modulating gene expression that is essential for stem cell differentiation and lineage commitment It helps control processes like cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis during hematopoiesis Mutations or alterations in CBFA2T3 expression can lead to hematologic disorders such as leukemia, where dysfunctional co-repression can disrupt the balance of cell growth and differentiation Understanding the role of CBFA2T3 in hematopoiesis could provide valuable insights into therapeutic strategies for blood cancers and other disorders related to abnormal gene regulation
