Nucleoporin 43 (NUP43) is a component of the nuclear pore complex, which regulates the transport of molecules between the nucleus and the cytoplasm NUP43 is involved in maintaining the structural integrity of the nuclear pore and facilitating the transport of macromolecules, such as RNA and proteins, across the nuclear envelope It plays a role in both nuclear import and export, ensuring the proper functioning of cellular processes such as gene expression and cell cycle regulation Additionally, NUP43 is involved in the formation of the nuclear pore complex and interacts with other nucleoporins to maintain its stability Dysregulation of NUP43 has been linked to defects in nuclear transport, leading to a variety of diseases, including certain cancers and neurodegenerative disorders Its importance in cellular homeostasis underscores its essential role in maintaining proper nuclear-cytoplasmic communication
