Nucleoporin 155 (NUP155) is a critical member of the nuclear pore complex, involved in regulating the passage of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm NUP155 interacts with other nucleoporins to form part of the pore's central channel, which is essential for the selective transport of proteins, RNA, and ribosomal subunits NUP155 has a vital role in maintaining nuclear-cytoplasmic communication, influencing processes like gene expression and cellular stress responses It is also implicated in the regulation of mitosis, ensuring the proper exchange of factors necessary for cell division and chromosome segregation Dysregulation of NUP155 is associated with cancer, where defects in nucleocytoplasmic transport contribute to uncontrolled cell division and tumor progression Furthermore, NUP155 is involved in the stability of the nuclear envelope and may play a role in cellular responses to DNA damage and oxidative stress, making it a key player in maintaining cellular integrity and function
