Descripción
DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 16 (DCAF16) is a member of the WD40-repeat-containing family of proteins that functions as a substrate receptor in the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. DCAF16 is involved in mediating the ubiquitination of nuclear and cytoplasmic substrates, ensuring proper protein turnover and cellular homeostasis. It has been implicated in nuclear-cytoplasmic transport processes and may influence the stability of proteins involved in transcriptional regulation and signal transduction. While its specific biological roles are still under investigation, DCAF16 is thought to play a role in the regulation of cellular stress responses and developmental processes. Its expression is widespread, and its functionality within the ubiquitin-proteasome system indicates a critical role in maintaining protein quality control and supporting adaptive cellular responses. Further research is required to define its substrate profile and to better understand its contributions to cellular function and disease.
