Descripción

ADGRB1, also known as BAI1 (Brain-Specific Angiogenesis Inhibitor 1), is a member of the adhesion G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family predominantly expressed in the brain. It plays a critical role in inhibiting angiogenesis, promoting synaptic plasticity, and mediating phagocytic clearance of apoptotic cells and pathogens. Structurally, ADGRB1 contains multiple extracellular domains that facilitate interactions with matrix proteins and apoptotic cell markers. Dysregulation of ADGRB1 is associated with glioblastoma, as it suppresses tumor angiogenesis and growth, and its loss can contribute to tumor progression. Additionally, it has been implicated in synaptic function and neuronal health, with potential roles in neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegeneration. ADGRB1’s ability to link extracellular signals to intracellular pathways highlights its importance in vascular regulation and brain function.
