Form | Lyophilized To keep the original salt concentration, we recommend reconstituting to the original concentration prior to lyophilization (see Concentration) in ddH2O. If a lower concentration is required, dilute in PBS, pH 7.4. If a higher concentration is required, the product can be reconstituted directly in PBS, pH 7.4, though please note that this will change the overall salt concentration. The stock concentration should be between 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. |
Tested Applications | WB, SDS-PAGE |

Descripción
ABCB5 is a transmembrane ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter known for its roles in drug resistance, stem cell biology, and tissue repair. It is expressed in a variety of tissues, including melanocytes, the corneal epithelium, and cancer stem cells, particularly in melanoma. ABCB5 functions as a drug efflux pump, actively exporting chemotherapeutic agents out of cells, contributing to multidrug resistance in cancer. It is also a recognized marker of cancer stem cells, promoting tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to standard therapies. Beyond its role in cancer, ABCB5 has been implicated in wound healing and tissue regeneration due to its expression in progenitor cells in damaged tissues. Structurally, ABCB5 contains transmembrane domains and ATP-binding sites that drive substrate transport through ATP hydrolysis. Dysregulation of ABCB5 is associated with cancer progression, chemoresistance, and impaired tissue repair, making it a promising therapeutic target in oncology and regenerative medicine.
