Background

Adrenomedullin 2 (ADM2), also known as Intermedin, is a member of the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) family. This peptide is widely expressed in various tissues, including the brain, cardiovascular system, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract. ADM2 exerts its biological effects through the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR) in association with receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs). It plays a vital role in maintaining vascular tone, promoting angiogenesis, and regulating fluid and electrolyte balance. ADM2 also has neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties. Dysregulation of ADM2 signaling has been implicated in conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, and metabolic disorders, highlighting its therapeutic potential in these diseases.
