ADAMTS6 ,A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motifs 6 is a member of the ADAMTS (ADAM with thrombospondin motifs) family of proteases. ADAMTS6 belongs to a group of multidomain proteases characterized by the presence of a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and various thrombospondin type-1 (TSP-1) motifs. ADAMTS6 is expressed in various tissues, including skeletal muscle, heart, brain, kidney, and lung. Its expression pattern suggests potential roles in tissue development and homeostasis.ADAMTS6 has been implicated in several physiological and pathological processes. Studies suggest its involvement in ECM remodeling, particularly in the degradation and processing of proteoglycans and other ECM components. It may also play roles in angiogenesis, wound healing, and inflammation.Dysregulation of ADAMTS6 has been implicated in various diseases. For example, altered expression of ADAMTS6 has been reported in cancers, such as breast cancer, where it may influence tumor progression and metastasis. Additionally, mutations in the ADAMTS6 gene have been linked to certain genetic disorders and developmental abnormalities.
