ACSM6 is an enzyme that activates medium-chain fatty acids by converting them into acyl-CoA derivatives, facilitating their utilization in metabolic pathways such as β-oxidation and lipid biosynthesis. It is primarily expressed in the liver and kidneys, where it plays a crucial role in energy metabolism and detoxification.
